Selfie at Graffiti Pier was taken on a field trip to a fenced in railroad-to-ship terminal in Philadelphia. This abandoned site of concrete piers became the area's signature tagging and urban art haven. Access has been variable through broken fences alongside both luxury apartments and homeless camps in scrub woods. While many area photographers have visited and made great images of the painted structure, I wanted to add human scale and interest. This particular view looking south made a nice spot for a selfie. I liked the Michelangelo style hands above the arch. Post processing included slight straightening and bringing out shadow detail. Nikon Z7 with Nikkor 24-120 mm f/4S lens at 79 mm. Exposure was ISO 100, 0.3 second, f/13. Camera was mounted on a tripod with Vello FreeWave Plus wireless shutter release.

Wonderful composition. It evokes a feeling of humanity abandoning the madness our time and returning to a nature. The vertical lines of graffiti give depth and lead the eyes through a tunnel into the wild. The colors are grand and the clarity pops. MARVELOUS!   Posted: 11/06/2024 15:50:12

OOooh. I like this! The artwork is fascinating. Adding a human figure throws it into another dimension of reality. I wonder if you darkened the human figure to a silhouette if it would be slightly more mysterious.   Posted: 11/19/2024 20:54:54
