About the Photo
Most of my photography is done with a 28mm fixed lens, but recently I decided to challenge myself to see familiar surroundings from a different perspective. I purchased a 50mm fixed lens and, about two weeks ago, went to our local Main Street to take a few test photographs.

While walking, I noticed these very small metal/brass figures attached to the side of a large sign. Their tiny size against the massive structure immediately caught my attention.

The original photograph was made looking upward toward the sky, which caused the figures and structure to appear quite dark due to the exposure. During processing, corrected the exposure and converted the image to black and white. Adjusted the contrast and tonal range to bring out the texture, form, and character of the little figures.

As usual, you have such a unique perspective to capture the interesting and memorable subject(s). Just curious, what does the sign say? Is it depicting the action of these figures? It is nice in BW but I prefer your original 2. When I first viewed this image, I was turning my head sideways, hoping to view it horizontally. After reading your title, vertically makes sense, I think.   Posted: 10/01/2026 18:32:52

The full sign reads "506ART." It's a small sitting and gathering area open to the public on the main street.

Once again, you look at something "in the way" and find a fantastic image! So clever of you. The monochrome choice improves this 1000%.

No suggestions, how you got the metal figures to look that good is beyond me!   Posted: 10/06/2026 01:41:27
