About the Image(s)
The original one was a performance by rhythmic dancers in an elementary school sports ground.
I selected the dancer in PS and changed the background to an oil painting photo. Furthermore, I blurred the ribbons slightly using Rotation Blu in PS. Then, I highlight the dancer in camera raw.
Because Sony does not have a repeat exposure fuction, I try this way to combine two photos.
I use Sony A7III, 1/250 sec, f/5.6 Iso 2500

Pei-Fan, I love your idea. I love the movement the dancer is making--on her toes, arms outstretched and her neck back. However, the original looks like the dancer is out of focus. Perhaps 1/250 sec was too slow in an indoor environment and the dancer moving quickly?
The combined image seems too busy to me. The painting seem too bright and not blurred enough. Also, the painting doesn't have any of the colors that the dancer or her ribbon have, so it doesn't add to the composition. I don't think the ribbon needs to be blurred, its very interesting being sharp.
I'd love the see the dancer against a neutral background--black or cream, so we see the dancer's pose and her ribbon making us follow her movement and her ribbon's movement.

I like the beautiful subject, her pose, and the excitement of the ribbon. You were right in wanting to change the background. I'd have liked it more if the background were less distracting. To my eye, the ribbon has a slightly more interesting shape in the original than in the processed image. Posted: 01/10/2025 21:56:30

This is a REALLY nice photo, but I found your background way too busy. I like the nice warm color of the woodwork so I made a completely new background out of that pattern and added a dark floor. I also made the want bright as a focus point for the viewer's attention. What do you think? Posted: 01/14/2025 21:18:56

I made a different version without removing the background. I changed background exposure and blurred it, used Curve to adjust the light of dancer and the ribbons. I didn't do a good job in including the stick while doing subject selection. :-) Posted: 01/15/2025 22:38:00

I like the subject and agree that the background in both photos is distractive.
Ed's version with a more subdued background allows me to focus more on the beauty and activity of the subject. I like that Ed also used the dominant color from the original photo as the revised background. Posted: 01/22/2025 00:22:58
