I use Camera raw to lighten the whole photo. And then, I went to Photoshop to select the girl and I duplicate the portion of the curtain as an extension of the right side and left side of the curtain on the bottom. Crop the image to make the girl on the center. Then, I go back to camera raw to lighten the face of the girl, darken the ground. I made the water blue a little bit.
It was a group project. There are three underwater studios in Taiwan for wedding or other performance. We hired a model who was good at underwater performance. This is a large open-air pool with glass on both sides. The model wears different types of clothes. She could underwater to perform around 2 minutes each time. We take turns to take the photos through the glass.
The content of the curtains is Tang Dynasty poetry which talking about a very beautiful empress of the Tang Dynasty . In traditional Chinese calligraphy, there are three types, regular style, running style, and grass style (wiring speed is very fast, they finish one sentence in one breath).

What a beautiful image! You've captured the model in a flattering pose and her scarf is moving nicely. The poetry posters add a lot and cleverly hide the pool. Thanks for your explanation on how you captured this!
It's really lovely, but here are a couple of possible changes.
A couple of tiny distractions--on the left side there are some tiny bubbles by her head that might be good to remove.
At the very top, her hair from her reflection is distracting and you might replace it with some bubbles.

I like the more blue cast to the image. Actually, I find the original image to be very interesting as it makes me stop and ponder just what is going on.   Posted: 11/04/2024 00:43:06

Such a unique subject you captured. Thanks for telling the story.
I can see that the dancer's garments are printed with reproductions of old calligraphy, complete with red signature chop prints.
I spent a year and half in Taipei in 1988-89 and will always remember seeing and visiting so many things there. It is nice to continue to visit Taiwan with your image. My wife and I and our three children rented a house just past the National Palace Museum.   Posted: 11/04/2024 06:32:50

It is great to know you visited here so many times and love Chinese culture. I had been volunteer tour guide in National Palace Museum for 11 years. Next time while you or your family visit here, please let me know, it is my honor to show you beautiful culture or landscape to you.   Posted: 11/05/2024 01:52:07

You are so very kind. Thank you. We are old now, and I am not sure we will travel again to Taiwan, but our thoughts are with you and your fellow citizens, and our hearts as well.   Posted: 11/05/2024 05:11:33

I think this is a great photo - WELL DONE!!
Some of the air bubbles in the corners have chromatic aberrations but I think that in this case it actually improves the image. Look at the upper left.   Posted: 11/07/2024 15:57:23

Pei-Fan, this is a stunning and unique capture! The flowing scarf and poetry backdrop add elegance, while the blue tones enhance the underwater effect beautifully. Brenda's suggestions for small refinements are thoughtful touches. Exceptional work!   Posted: 11/11/2024 17:32:19

Loved this project and the photo is fascinating. The processed image looks fantastic-nothing to suggest.
