About the Image(s)

This image was taken at a sunflower field near my home. I was hoping to photograph butterflies or a bird on the sunflower but all I was able to find were bees. Since this image was taken in the morning, it was the perfect time for the bees to feed. The image was edited in LR and PS. Highlights, shadows, crop, HSL adjustments made. The image was also sharpened in Topaz Photo AI.

Barbara, it is always very rewarding to be able to photograph these critters in real life and environment. The bee is very sharp. I find a yellow hue on the bee which makes it less relevant. I did crop the image tighter to make it stand out and removed the yellow hue as well.   Posted: 07/09/2024 11:50:22

Hi Barbara,
I really enjoy capturing these little creatures in their environments. They have such interesting behaviours, revealing a world that is mostly unknown to humans.
You editing and cropping work well, enhancing the little bee and also providing a lot of information about the flower and its textures.

Barbara, I really like your crop. To me it is an artistic image you have created instead of a photo of a bee. If you were going for an image of a bee foraging, then the tighter crop and reducing the yellow cast by Issac works better. I love artistic images, so am drawn to your initial crop and tint.   Posted: 07/22/2024 02:44:59

Lovely bee Barbara!

I find myself in agreeance with Isaac. The reflected yellow on the bee muddles it a bit for me and accents the fact that it's shadowed. The left side of the flower, the brightest part of the image, adds a lot of weight, brings my eyes out to the empty space, and leaves them there. I think a tighter crop helps tone that down.

Nice job!   Posted: 07/25/2024 20:53:18

You have caught this bee well Barbara and your R5 has easily enough pixel horsepower to crop more tightly so the bee is bigger in the frame. I would crop even more than Isaac. I like the flower being same colour as your bee.   Posted: 07/27/2024 21:16:08
