Taken at Seabeck, Washington in June. Seabeck has become well known around the world for the gathering of eagles that come to nest and feast on a run of fish that spawn in a small creek which empties into Puget Sound. From late May until mid July. Each day during the low tide the spawning fish get caught in the oyster beds as the water goes out. This sparks a gathering first of great blue herons with up to 50 eagles watching from perches. The action can be awesome as the eagles begin soaring over the herons . When a heron catches a fish, the eagles dive down and steal the fish from the herons making great opportunities for action photos.

Bruce, beautiful image of the gliding eagle. From your description sound like the perfect site for eagle photography without going to Alaska. The image is sharp, and the bird is looking this way.   Posted: 09/07/2023 18:30:25
Bruce, you are fortunate to see eagles. I realize that you have to take the time to get to the right place. This is an especially interesting image because it doesn't convey the powerful and sometimes threatening view we see. I didn't realize that they have such a wingspan! Great image.   Posted: 09/08/2023 15:17:01

Such fascinating creatures to watch and admire. For me, the eagle's wings speak strength and freedom and you captured this nicely. My eye moves nicely from one tip of the wings to the other and lands on the face. The image is sharp, nice bokeh, and a good frontal view of the face. Beautiful capture, Bruce.   Posted: 09/09/2023 06:55:58

Bruce, this is a striking shot of your eagle, particularly with it on a perfect diagonal with it looking the right way to make the image more striking, while covering power while gliding. Huge wingspan!   Posted: 09/11/2023 01:19:07

Hi Bruce, such a beautiful and powerful image! The diagonal line and the visual contact make this image dynamic, which is complemented by a good separation from the background.
I love it!
