About the Image(s)
I took this image at Cape Disappointment on the border of Washington state and Oregon state. this is where the Columbia river enters the Pacific Ocean and when the tide is going out, the river collides with the incoming tide and creates huge waves . The waves explode when the hit the 200 foot high wall and some go above the lighthouse 200 feet up. You might notice the figure of an eagle head in the middle of the wave, many of the wave have forms similar to animals.

Bruce, I was going to say it looks like a parrot with the right wing extended, but eagle works better. Indeed rough waters, nicely exposed and sharp. Good timing   Posted: 10/03/2026 20:09:02
Wow - how dramatic! It's incredible how the water climbs the cliff - I love the patterns but also the range colours.   Posted: 10/03/2026 21:24:02
Spectacular! An exciting moment captured beautifully! And you've given me something to look for the next time I'm in the Northwest.   Posted: 10/05/2026 12:52:44
Bruce, you've captured so much here. Although I was first struck by the glossy (and in some areas, glassy) front waves and exciting clash, the scene also has the smooth inner wave, craggy rock face, and mountains in the back. Very exciting.   Posted: 10/07/2026 14:17:04
Hi, Bruce.
Talk about drama and impact in an image! These waves evoke fear and awe in the viewer. The translucent colors, the different textures in the water and the spray take me right there. The name Cape Disappointment is truly dramatic irony.   Posted: 10/08/2026 17:41:10
