About the Image(s)

For this month's image, I chose this photograph of a six-spot burnet moth, which is quite easy to find on flowers at this time of year.

EXIF data:
Shutter speed: 1/320 sec
Aperture: f/6.3
ISO: 1000
Camera: Canon R6 Mark III
Lens: Canon RF 100mm Macro

This image is a focus stack created from ten focus-bracketed exposures.

Maria, here again you took advantage of the photo stacking feature of the camera. I am kind of puzzled about the fact that one of the anthenas is not sharp in focus. It seems to be the one closer to the lens the same as the front right leg. I just wonder if it is stacking artefact, or the stack started further into the insect. Anyway, it is an interesting insect and very colorful. It is not a critter available in the USA, only in Europe.   Posted: 07/07/2026 13:23:14

This is a striking image Maria, with great colours. Interesting that we see 6 spots all on one side - are there 6 or the left side too?

It is sharp where it needs to be - although I can't quite work out what's happening to the front right leg at the end. Gook image never-the-less.   Posted: 07/09/2026 14:51:38
