Hi Bruce - nice sharp photo with vivid colors. The only thing that I notice, and maybe this is just me, is he seems to be angled ever so slightly. I.e., the horizon feels a little off. Beautiful bird and good composition otherwise.   Posted: 04/02/2026 08:08:01
Hi Bruce - I've seen Ruddy Ducks before, but never this close. Such a treat to see the contrast in colors from the blue bill to the reddish body feathers! Great look at a Ruddy Duck!   Posted: 04/06/2026 20:35:38
Lovely shot Bruce - very colourful with its beak, reflection, eye all blue - plus the rust (that's a fair description!) and green. I note the rust feathers seem to go up its neck a tad in an intriguing way.   Posted: 04/07/2026 19:38:28
Bruce nice duck. I have never seen this breed, nice reflection and waves.   Posted: 04/10/2026 00:43:52
Hi Bruce,
This is my first time seeing a Ruddy Duck, and I really admire the beautiful colours of this bird that you've captured so well. The framing works nicely with the water waves, and the addition of the vignette helps to draw attention to the subject.
My only suggestion would be that the vignette might be a bit too strong, and as Karen pointed out, the horizon appears slightly off.   Posted: 04/12/2026 18:05:59

Bruce, I have seen Ruddy Ducks in the wildlife sanctuary that I like to visit, and spotting them is always a treat. I believe that their beaks turn blue and overall turn they turn handsome during the breeding season, so your sharp image with the bright colors and that eager eye does justice to the breed. The water ripples, the reflection and a few water droplets on its feather complete this strong image.   Posted: 04/16/2026 23:50:49
