I was in the Amazon jungle in Ecuador when I spotted this grumpy looking male sitting by himself in the distance. Edits were basic along with a strong crop.

Hi Karen, yes, he sure looks grumpy and unhappy!
I love the sharp details, colors, and the texture of the subject.
I may further blur the big green leaf and the branch above him to draw attention to your great subject.   Posted: 11/19/2025 18:45:12

Thank you Maria - yes! blurring the leaf is a great idea! Thanks!   Posted: 11/23/2025 03:26:19
Karen, agree with his grumpy face. Something looks unusual to me that it looks like he has his tail wrapped around his head framing him. Lots of detail in spite of the big crop.   Posted: 11/20/2025 19:34:55
Thank you Isaac. Originally he had his tail wrapped all the way around him - then he moved it and I just thought it was so different I had to get that shot too.   Posted: 11/23/2025 03:27:20
Hi Karen - Great photo and very interesting the way the tail and right arm create a frame around the face. I don't know moneys anywhere near well enough to interpret the facial expression, but in my lay sense it doesn't read as grumpy to me, but rather as patient and aware. I saw some Howler Monkeys recently in Costa Rica and they didn't have this orangey fur - very interesting.   Posted: 11/23/2025 15:35:02
