About the Image(s)
Taken at FT Desoto State Park, ST Petersburg Florida. I just returned from there this week and had a great time photographing these birds. They are a blast to watch running in the water using their wings to assist changing directions as they chase small fish the capture them with their beaks. I took this image a few years ago and did not have time to process it for the May postings so used this one instead . The light was fantastic this day so did not have to make any changes other than cropping.

Bruce - Fantastic photo! Everything about it works: the long legs, the detail around the eyes and beak, the feathers on the head and neck... The Egret is so beautiful, the fish is almost a distraction, but of course it's great to see that moment of fish-in-beak. Were you standing in the water when you took the photo?   Posted: 05/01/2025 21:42:04
Thanks Richard, not I did not have to go into the water this trip, they were close enough without it.   Posted: 05/01/2025 22:33:50
Hi Bruce - I'm new here. This is a fantastic shot! Tack sharp and a great moment in this bird's life. My only suggestion would be to perhaps remove the two darkish dots just above the bird's head so they don't distract from the rest of the image. I love the colors - wonderful!   Posted: 05/08/2025 20:21:35
Those spots are probably dust on the sensor.   Posted: 05/09/2025 20:09:41
Bruce, your Reddish Egret fish is bigger that the one mine caught. He will have a more nutritious meal. Image is sharp and your vantage point was great.   Posted: 05/09/2025 20:11:23
Bruce, this is an amazingly sharp portrait of a red egret with a fish in its beaks and the colors are very appealing. His eyes seem to be looking right into your camera.   Posted: 05/12/2025 18:35:28
Hi Bruce,
Great action capture of this Reddish Egret! I'm sure you had a wonderful time there, enjoying these amazing birds. Since arriving in Spain, I haven't had many opportunities to do bird photography, and I really miss those moments spent observing and capturing beautiful shorebirds.
The detail and lighting in your image are beautiful. I would just suggest removing the dust spots, as they slightly detract from the overall quality of the image.
