About the Image(s)
For this month’s image I have chosen this one that I shot yesterday in the Surroundings of the Winter station of Sky here in Cantabria that is called BraƱavieja.
After so many winters living in a warm place this year with our moving to Spain I have the opportunity of enjoying snow landscapes like this one. What I like of this image was the untouched beauty of the snow only broken for the steeps that surely a fox has leave surrounding the small brushes.
Exif data:
Shutter speed: 1/2000 sec
Aperture: f 9.0
ISO 400
Shot with a Nikon Z 7 II and a Nikon zoom lens 28-400mm at 220 mm

Maria, never under estimate the complexity of simplicity. This is a very good example of a minimalistic image. Sharp, beautiful shadows. The steps on the snow adds interest to it, or perhaps fpor others will be considered distractions...   Posted: 02/08/2025 20:10:13
Hi Isaac, thank you for your comment. I agree that the steps in the snow could be considered distractions, but I included them in the shot because I like the story they tell.   Posted: 02/20/2025 00:13:56
Maria, even with few details an image can tell a story that is worth exploring with the eyes, yours surely has does this. Very nice. I included a version that might also work for you to look at with the left side cropped. For me this area seems to draw away the eye from the important area of the image. Hi Bruce, thank you for your suggestion. I really like the image resulting from the crop. I was debating whether to include this or crop it as you suggested, and in the end, I decided to include it to create a strong diagonal line that adds tension to the rest of the image.   Posted: 02/20/2025 00:17:57
Hi Maria - Like Isaac and Bruce, I love the simplicity and story-telling of your image.   Posted: 02/18/2025 00:03:07
Hi Richard, I really enjoyed the morning walking through this snowy landscape, looking for images like this one. It's a nice change after having lived in Australia for many years.   Posted: 02/20/2025 00:21:43
Maria - simplicity works and there is a clear story with the steps - I like the S shape pattern of them and cropping from the left works and helps, so that the reader is looking more from bottom left - I would try keeping the rest of the image as you have it to retain the S shape with a portrait shape image.   Posted: 02/21/2025 15:37:36
Hi Adrian, thank you for your comment and suggestion. I'll create another version of this image with a square crop that removes the top left, focusing more on the vegetation and the steps.   Posted: 02/22/2025 20:25:27
