About the Image(s)
This was taken at Penrhyn Castle in North Wales. It only dates from about 1800, and was built by a man who had made a lot of money mining and exporting slate. Apparently its cost would have been about £100 million in today’s money.
Camera – OM Systems OM-1
Lens – Olympus 14-150mm at 34mm
Settings – 1/500 sec, f11, manual exposure, ISO 1600, RAW
Processing – Affinity Photo 2

There is some perspective effect and perhaps a lean to the right, but in my opinion that actually enhances the image. It feel to me like it sort of shouts out to the world with that lean. Tones and textures are excellent. Good job.   Posted: 07/17/2024 22:08:51

I would like to see a small rotation so the horizontal lines at bottom were bang on 180 degrees. Tonal range really allows the textures to be felt and I like that the window panes being the darkest part is on the intersecting thirds as it sucks the viewer in to that area being such a strong focal point.   Posted: 07/19/2024 08:29:46

I agree with Stan and Chris. I can offer nothing more except to say, well done.   Posted: 07/19/2024 18:00:54

An amazing structure with the concentric half circles drawing your eyes to the window. I like the bottom of the image sloping away as it adds interest.   Posted: 07/20/2024 17:29:19

The dark window is a good example that dark subjects can also draw the eye. I like the good focus and range of tones that bring out the textures and weathering of the stone. The perspective closer to rectilinear would be more comfortable to view but this may not have been possible.   Posted: 07/22/2024 00:50:41

Thanks for your comments, sorry I'm late this month.
Yes, perhaps a slight rotate to the left would feel more upright. I could adjust the perspective, but I felt that I wanted to give a sense of the size of the building   Posted: 07/25/2024 19:48:46
