I have been organizing my photos and was enjoying this one from 2003 and decided to use it for the group. It is interesting in that it is shot with a small point and shoot Canon S20 about the size of a cigarette package with only 4 megapixels, my first digital camera. Shot at 1/400 sec, f/2.8, 7.09mm with 7.1 - 21.3mm lens. I probably did the monochrome conversion with Photoshop with the color sliders. This is a great mall for photography and there is a twin in Milan. I found out when someone was insisting I must have taken the shot in Milan, but I had never been there.

You have captured the energy of a bustling covered shopping mall very well. I am puzzled by the shiny floor. The reflections give it a wet appearance, but the mall in covered. The buildings and people are out of focus. The entire image has a grungy appearance. I do not care for it.

I guess I'm becoming a grungy person, then! I find this to be an exciting picture - lots of detail, repeated yet varied shapes, good tones of grey, lots to look at. I think the floor is just polished - the Italians seem to go for polished tile floors. Here, I think the symmetry of the buildings makes it necessary to centralise them in the picture. I think you have captured this quite well especially the perspective. I photographed this same interior 3 years ago and none of mine compare to this as I couldnt include enough nor get perspective right with my 24mm lens so I really appreciate your capture which is well detailed with lovely luminosity. Some burning down bottom right on the floor and ground floor building is my only suggestion. Posted: 08/19/2026 07:44:25
Love the reflections on the tiles, leaving the couple in on the left does mess up the symmetry (or, I need my glasses back on), the detail is perfect on the building and yes we all should remember to sometimes use the sliders in PS rather than relying on what an Adobe engineer thinks should be the mono conversion

Well captured image, a lot to look at, lines and curves and repeating patterns. For aesthetics I would probably remove the person on the lower center with the big bag. Posted: 08/24/2026 22:50:28
