Canon 20D with Canon 17-55 f2.8 lens @ 55mm 1/200sec f4 ISO 400
RAW image processed in PS with small crop and slight rotation to align verticals. Separate curves adjustment layers created for highlights & shadows then converted to mono which was done by creating a new fill adjustment layer and selecting SOLID COLOR (black) and COLOR blending mode on 100% opacity. Then went back to shadows adjustment layer and opened up all shadow areas to reveal more detail and provide the best contrast.

You have nicely captured an urban canyon. What I like best is the glimpse of additinal buildings at the end of the canyon. These add depth, and a way out. The sunlight coming from behind the dark buildings lighting up the corner of the building with the thin vertical openings adds special attention to that transition. Nicely done.

I agree with Jerry's comments. I might have been nice to have a pedestrian walking across the crosswalk to fill in the bottom left corner. Posted: 08/12/2026 14:49:59
I guess we'd see this as some street photography. It's quite interesting, and nicely converted to mono, but doesn't have the graphic excitement that I love in some monos. Posted: 08/16/2026 14:52:14

This is a good image for monochrome presentation with the strong vertical lines. I like the light between the light and darker buildings like Jerry said, it represents a way out of the urban concrete jungle. Posted: 08/24/2026 22:43:04
