About the Image(s)
As you probably know, I’m a keen macro photographer and regard macro as my joint number 1 photography interest (with mono, of course). Sometimes macro photos convert to mono nicely, so I thought I’d convert one taken last weekend.
This was taken in a wood. I was mainly looking for fungi, but this twig and branch has nice details in it.
OM Systems OM-1, Olympus 30mm macro lens, 1/60 sec, f5.6, ISO 1250. A bracket of 19 images, hand held. Merged in Helicon Focus. Then processed from RAW in Canva Affinity.

I love the details in the two branches. You look at that image and wonder how many years we are looking at?   Posted: 04/03/2026 02:10:19
Thanks, Don! Not many years, I guess, but it does look really old.   Posted: 04/03/2026 15:00:21
You need to speak to my friend as he now shoots almost nothing but fungi only millimetres high with his OM-1 and Helicon!
The detail on the branch is so good I felt I could almost touch it, composition wise I'd be tempted to crop square and have the twig shooting out of the top left corner   Posted: 04/03/2026 11:48:11

Macro is my other passion, see group 95. I've got kit to go up to over 5x magnification, computerised focus brackets, etc. So happy to chat to you friend.
Yes, a square crop would work well, I stopped thinking when I got the nice details!   Posted: 04/03/2026 14:59:54
