I took this image in my location recreation centre recently with my ipone 13 Pro
When I saw the S curve of the chair draw my attention. I converted to monochrome in Lightroom

Hello Grace, welcome to group 64!

This is why mono speaks so loudly, I think. With a good shape and pattern, super feeling of depth, this is very striking, I love it.

Personally I would crop off the top, just leaving the tops of the far seat backs, and then clone out the remaining stairway bits, as they distract me and don't add to the picture. Done roughly here:

Great subject matter for monochrome and the image has great impact from the contrast of the repetitive blacks and whites. The dark black oval shape in the centre works well compositionally as it draws me straight to that point before meandering off towards the rear. I like Stuart's suggestion of getting rid of some background as it certainly does simplify the image and makes the shadow area at the front more prominent leading to greater overall impact.   Posted: 02/17/2025 00:07:18

I really like the graphic forms including the vertical stripes on the stairway in the upper left. They compliment the linear shapes on the bench. Very well done.   Posted: 02/18/2025 01:07:37

I like Stuart's suggestion cropping off the top portion. This removes the clutter and one can appreciate the lines of a very impressive image.   Posted: 02/18/2025 03:08:04
