I like the detail and sense of depth in this photo. At first I thought it was fog, but there's more texture in the smoke. Would it be possible to lift the shadows in the black area, bottom left? It might balance the fog for complementary shade and texture, I'm thinking.   Posted: 02/08/2025 21:22:18

I agree with Stuart regarding the bottom left burnt area being "blocked", but feel the gamma overall needs lightening. What is your main subject, the smoke or the trees? Since humans view from left to right, the composition is bothersome for me and unbalanced, unless your intention was to lead the viewer past the trees to the smoke and show the direction the fire is traveling.   Posted: 02/10/2025 02:17:07
The smoke provides a lot of mood and the trees in silhouette work well in telling the story of devastation/ destruction. I also would like to see a little more detail in the dark area bottom left and also top left as my eyes get drawn to that area in a distracting way- some smoke cloned in up there could work well   Posted: 02/17/2025 00:46:19
I like the atmosphere provided by the smoke. It also provides a nice background to contrast with the trees. I would crop the right third of the photo and keep the interest on the left two thirds.   Posted: 02/18/2025 00:54:11
