About the Image(s)
It’s a shot of Convict Lake in California. Spent a half day there shooting panoramas, HDR etc and finally pull this out of the chaos. I like it for the drama of the tones and the general composition. So let me know your thoughts.
I was at an Arthur Meyerson workshop last week so I’m totally converted to color, or at least overwhelmed with it that I’m really questioning my work, but it’s all for the good.

Wow! Mark, I can see why you spent a half-day in this location. It's gorgeous. I especially like your composition and the wide range of tones. Beautifully done!
I played with your image a bit, starting with the original. I wanted to see how it might look with different (dramatic) lighting. Your thoughts?

Mark,
I have not heard of Convict Lake but I am glad it was on your itinerary during workshop.
I like you scene choice from the many shots you took. It has nice tonal range from the sky, snow on the mountains and the lake elements. I say Good to Go!

Mark,
Based on your intro to your image, sounds like you spent a lot of time exploring and shooting to get the right image. I really do like the composition and tonal qualities of the image.

Mark, wonder capture of the mountain and lake with the stones in the foreground. good choice to present the image in mono. I have a few images of snowy mountain and lake. I will look into converting them to B&W to showcase nature's lines and shapes.   Posted: 07/17/2024 21:01:04
Mark, very nice shot. As a Swiss I am well aware how difficult it is to get a beautiful snowy mountain scenery in a good black and white picture.
I played a bit around with it in LR but after some minutes realized that I couldnt come up with anything to improve :-)
