This image was captured from the 1st PSA PG in Jaisalmer, India, in 2023.
During the desert festival, I had the opportunity to visit a rifle marching detail of the Indian Air Force. That was a lovely display. This was one of many shots.
The display took place during the late morning while I was in the photographers' enclosure. I instantly loved the scene and captured it.
I took this shot with my Samsung S23 mobile camera, without using a flash. A simple crop, light adjustment, and monochrome conversion were done in the Windows Photo Editor??”here it is for your feedback.
I hope you enjoy the image and any feedback is welcome.

Kamal - this is a wonderful image. The rule of thirds definitely suits the composition and the blurred background definitely focuses the viewer on the marching men who are certainly very focused on helping you getting a great photograph.

Well done You had a good vantage point with both soldiers separated and you caught the lead soldier in action rotating his rifle.

Hi Kamal,
I'm new to this group and haven't interacted with you at all. But I do see and critique a lot of photography.
This image is nicely converted to black and white. For me, I didn't immediately notice that the gun was actually not in his hand - might have been nice if the rifle showed a tad of motion, just a slightly slower shutter speed. I also think a vertical crop would be something to consider, as I don't think the left or right sides add any interest to the photo - my eyes wander to the sides but you want the observer to see the men. Kamal, a very nice picture. Well seen and well converted. I agree with Donna, that a vertical crop might be an alternative worth considering. As the shadow of the soldier is only small, cutting it would not be an issue in my personal view. Br, A Posted: 08/12/2026 12:49:50

Kamal, you've received some excellent comments and suggestions on this remarkable image. After reading them, I decided to give some of them a try. I went with a vertical format, slightly blurred the weapon, and attempted to make the soldier stand out a bit more.
