About the Image(s)
I took this photograph many years ago while traveling through Alabama on my way to visit my cousins. It’s certainly not a great picture, but to me, it captures the rural feelings I have when I'm in that area. Sometimes it’s easy to forget how people live in the deep South. It fascinated me to find a small business that combined a gas station, a post office, and a grocery store.
The original image is no longer available.

A One Stop shop out in the sticks.
You have recorded a slice of Americana for us to enjoy this July. You have the window AC, one gas pump under the porch awning and not enough room on the sign to spell out Groceries....and an empty lot
I love it

Hello Pete,
Greetings my friend.
What an amazing capture and presentation. I have never been in Alabama, though but it has arural touch. The framing is superb, it has all the elements in place.
Thank you for sharing.
Cheers.

Pete, your image brings back old memories of living in Mississippi. It was not uncommon for me to pass by these small stores while I was driving around. The title for you image is great. Even has a post office. I think you did a great job of framing and processing the image. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 07/12/2026 13:09:28
