About the Image(s)

I currently walk a lot around the place where I live. I spotted these electrical wires and like the symmetry.

Several ravens were flying around, and I tried to catch one of them in a sweet spot. After I missed the first two, the third was fine. At home, I saw that he carries a nut. To fit my other pictures, I chose the 24x65 format. I did BW conversion and some minor adjustments in LR. I created also an alternative version in which the Raven (and the nut) are better visible. However, I liked the larger picture better.

Adrian, this is such a captivating photograph. I really admire your awareness that the raven would take it from "very good" to "a masterpiece". Also, waiting until the bird was in the right place was brilliant.

I agree with your selection of the larger image.

Well done!   Posted: 12/01/2025 16:34:05

Adrian,

Top Marks to you

Perfect symmetry including the Raven nut carrier and the next tower in the lower frame. Diamonds, rectangles, triangles, and lines for your viewers.

There is a US photographer by the name of Cole Thompson who has done project on power lines. You wouldn't think it could be of photographic interest but his vision is amazing. look him up when you have a moment

Many thanks! You mentionned Cole earlier (in your version of a power line) and I am following him since then. I admire also his work with the "ghosts in the concentration camp" and have spent considerable efforts in mimicking the idea in other context (with no success so far, unfortunately).   Posted: 12/09/2025 18:50:19

Adrian - a fantastic image that displays your vision and patience to position yourself and your camera to capture the amazing symmetry and geometric shapes of the tower.

I would love to see the image enlarged to ( say 2 meters high ) to be able to fully appreciate the contribution of the raven. By the way is " bringing the nut home " a play of words on " bringing home the bacon ".

Cheers

thanks Mike - the idea behind the title was to capture the fast viewers attention and to encouarge them to have a second look to find the nut :-)   Posted: 12/09/2025 18:53:26
