About the Image(s)
St Louis Basilica ??“ Simply a beautiful cathedral. It was built in 1914 and has over 41 million tiles in 7000 colors. It is worth the trip to visit it even if you don’t do any photography.
Workflow: I used NIK Silver Efex and a touch of Detail Extractor in Color Efex. I used LR Classic to add a little highlight to the center pews.
Camera: Olympus E-M1 MKII, 12-100 mm f4, 1/20 sec f8, 0EV, ISO 8000

Emil - just like you, I am fascinated by the amount of meticulous work that went into building such beautiful church interiors. I just love the decorations used in Byzantine churches often using expensive materials in the tiles.
Cheers

Hi Emil, Very good shot. I share your admiration for these kind of buildings and started to capture them in vertical panoramas - my new preferred format as you may have noticed ;-) I think it emphasiszes well the mere size of the work. I am travelling without Laptop but tried to recrop your picture with PS express to give you an idea, what I mean. Your thoughts?   Posted: 07/13/2025 10:02:02
Emil, I love the interiors of old churches like this and I like how you captured the interior. I like the suggestion Pete made about the crop. While I like the top of the image, it pulls you away from the looking at the ceiling painting in the center of the image. Seems like to me the lines created by the pews are not strong enough pull you away from the top of the image. Below is my version of the crop and I also removed some of the distracting lights. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 07/26/2025 12:08:10
