About the Image(s)

The ice was actually not that large but using a wide angle lens allowed me to get close and fill in the frame. I wanted to give the impression of a large iceberg but of course the size of the rocks gives it away. Processing was done in LR and PS using local adjustments to emphasize the ice and the rocks while leaving the background blurry.

Michael,

You did a good job making the viewer believe the ice chunk has scale to it.

A nit to consider, select the ice chunk and reduce the exposure just a smidge to bring out more of its surface details.

Mike, I love images like this. The primary ice "chunk" has a magical depth to it. The rocks in the near foreground really anchor your photograph. Nicely done!

I couldn't help playing with the image to see how it would look with light coming from the top left of the sky. While I was at it, I modified the ice block and several of the stones. Your thoughts?

Pete - great suggestions to bring out the surface of the ice and the stones as well as blurring the sky and emphasize a directional light source.. I will definitely edit to achieve similar results.

Thank you very much

A cool shot in every sense. I like the mystery about the size of the iceberg. If there is anything I would improve, then it would be to darken the water behind the iceberg so that the iceberg is better seperated from the background.

A picture that would sell well in any gallery around the globe :-)   Posted: 07/13/2025 10:10:20

Michael. Very nice image. I like the perspective you gave to the ice especially with the wide angle lens you are using. I do like Pete's approach to the image because it really makes the ice stand out from the rest of the image.   Posted: 07/15/2025 01:07:01
