About the Image(s)

The image is taken at Gangxia North, a subway station at Shenzhen China. I came across image of this futuristic station from social media and decided to see it myself while I have a day at the city. I was not disappointed, it is as beautiful as expected. The station has many spaceship like ceilings at different location. This is taken at the biggest and most iconic area where there is sign for best photo experience.

I use Lightroom to quickly convert to B&W. I add white to the white lines and add black to the black area. That's about all was needed.

Camera: Canon R5
Lens: 12mm prime manual focus
Shutter: 1/320 s
Aperture: Not native Canon lens, aperture is set on the lens, should be about 5.6
ISO: 3200

Mandy, I envy your trip and love your photographs, especially the monochrome version. The large light with the radiating lines is truly exciting. It makes me think of an explosion or maybe fireworks.

To me, the strength of the image is the light and radiating "spokes." With that in mind, I played with it a bit in Camera Raw to emphasize those components even further.

Your thoughts?

Hi Pete, did you add 'more white' to the white spokes?   Posted: 05/13/2025 03:56:57

Mandy, I didn't specifically add white; however, I slightly increased the contrast, which had the same effect.

Mandy,

Thanks for sharing your shot of the Shenzhen Metro ceiling. It is a work of art. I hope travelers don't lose track of where they are walking as they look up and admire such great craftsmanship.

Your composition is perfect and having a 12mm lens allowed you to get it in its entirety.

Good job
