About the Image(s)

Being that it is close to spring , I am back into looking at how to improve my spring time images. One of my favorite flowers at the start of spring is the bleeding heart which grows both in the wild and in gardens. This image is from last year. I clipped some flowers off and setup a small studio on my workbench. I used focus bracketing to capture the parts of the flower I wanted to be sharp. Using Helicon to merge the images together. For this image, I used about 10 images for the final product. I then imported the image into Photoshop for minor edits and Nik Silver Efex.

Chris - well executed focus stacking technique. I am looking at a new camera and I will definitely buy a camera that has built-in focus stacking capabilities. The B&W treatment is very effective - I played a bit with your B&W image to do a bit of dodging and burning to try to give a more 3-dimensional look to the flower. I am not sure though I succeeded.

Hi Chris - this is a very beautiful picture: Immogen Cummingham would be proud of this :-) Nothing to add from my side, apart from the comment that your efforts paid well off.   Posted: 03/26/2025 09:16:56

Chris, I found it difficult to resist playing with your wonderful image. It has so many different possibilities, especially the monochrome version! Here's what I came up with. Your thoughts?
