Emil - I like the fact that your B&W treatment renders the brick to a very deep gray - almost black and the contrast is provided by the windows. I felt the wires on the top left were drawing the attention out of the picture - so I removed a bit - being careful to make sure the rest was simply not floating out in the air.

Emil,
I really like the tonalities in this image. Even though it is a brick wall you have in the image, it still has a clean / uncluttered look. The only thing I would work on is determining what is the focus of the image. Is it the electrical conduit or the windows.   Posted: 03/23/2025 22:34:21

Chris
In my first rendition I tried to highlight the glass block windows, but I failed to really create a place to rest your eye as you correctly noted.
I went back and added more shadows and removed the wiring that led you out of the frame that Michael commented on. I tried doing a horizontal flip but it didn't look right.
Regards
Emil

Hi Emil - the picture conveys perfectly the sterile backyard atmosphere that you wanted to capture. I like the bw conversion.
In my own similar photos, I have however mixed emotions, when it comes to straightening the lines in LR and I do it only when the deviation is minimal. In a perspective like your picture I probably would leave it, as it rather irritates me (eg that the windows seem larger on top than on bottom). But thats personal taste.   Posted: 03/26/2025 09:01:02

Emil, I love this. It's not a "typical" image, but it works! The textures, lines, and outstanding tones make it a natural for monochrome. Very well done!

Emil, I agree with the others that the tonality is great as is the overall image. I also agree with Michael about removing a portion of the wires. With the wires in the image, they provide a path for the viewer's eye to exit the frame and you can't really tell they've been removed. Well done.   Posted: 03/29/2025 19:04:48
