About the Image(s)

There are so many images of this structure that I wanted to see how I could do something different. So, my goal was to allow the viewer to see right through and recognize the Freedom Tower through the riddling skylight. Due to the server lighting, I started with a handheld HDR Sequence, then converted it to monochrome in lightroom and worked the settings to pull as much detail as possible out of the sky. It’s been a couple of years since I completed this, so it might benefit from some of the new masking tools in Lightroom.

I’m happy to hear your thoughts and if you choose, your edits. In the end, I may have to go back but hey, any excuse to visit NYC is a good one.

Mark, I decided to try playing with your image to see how it might look with different lighting and contrast. Since the image that's posted has very low resolution (213 x 320 pixels), my processing introduced some jpeg anomalies. Nonetheless, I hope it offers some ideas.

Mark,

Your image has the Genie only part way out of the bottle. I think the tower can be a more powerful presence in your final version. I really like the shot

I tried to achieve that but pixel size was my enemy. I used two linear gradients on each side of the opening and dodged them. One more than the other. I put a radial gradient on the tower tried clarity and dehire to make it stand out more.

Hi Mark, I like the idea and how you implemented it. If you need a reason for a trip to NYC, then you might aim to redo it and look if it is possible to have the structure more centered (at least the lower part)? Just an idea.
