About the Image(s)
“As the title “Late night walk” insinuates I tried to capture the mood of a walk home late at night when the folks were gone and the bars were closed.
I did in LR some basic steps to increase the dynamics. Further, I added some linear gradients on the top left to increase the visibility of the chairs, one on the right and one on the bottom to darken the lights on the floor. Finally a linear gradient in the middle to increase the contrast.
I was medium happy with the outcome but ran out of ideas for improvement and look forward to your thoughts.”

Adrian, your idea to capture the feeling of a late-night walk is brilliant. I suspect we each have memories of the isolation and darkness of such a time. I understand your decision to make this a high-contrast image. That "fits" with the mood you're creating, and I feel that your processing captures that. However, since you explicitly asked for input, I played with your original photograph to see what I could do.
Using Camera Raw, I made significant lighting and contrast modifications. Naturally, I left the image in a square format. Smiles...

Thanks Pete - well, this is a different night in a different city and the mood is more peaceful. Ansel A would have clearly preferred yours because it runs through all zones.   Posted: 02/04/2025 14:47:53

The late night walker casts one heck of a shadow - the lighting was helpful
My suggestion is dodge the furniture highlights in the upper left. My goes there first and then sees the shadow.
