About the Image(s)
Lisbon Portugal is popular for its electric trams and narrow streets.
I have seen trams with yellow and red carriages. They move along narrow streets pass through popular tourist districts, sharing the tramway with cars and pedestrians. Many tourists ride the tram to explore different districts. They are very quiet as they pass through commercial as well as residential areas, taking riders from one district to another.

You have it all in one shot: Lisbon's old world architecture, the Tram coming at us, a pedestrian with an umbrella walking by the tracks, and a motor cyclist. A scene frozen in time sans the motorcycle.
Well done

Mandy - your street photography image is a great documentary on different transportation modes in a busy city. The cropping and B&W treatment are very effective to allow focus on the main theme. I found the original color image allows the 3 subjects ( tram, pedestrian and motorcyclist ) to stand out more individually - also I liked the reflections on the wet cobblestones. Just for the exercise I played around with contrast and cropping -   Posted: 11/10/2024 00:26:18

Mandy, your wonderful image captured the "feel" of Lisbon. Beautifully done! I think your camera angle, settings, and post-processing are outstanding.
Naturally, with such a fantastic image, I couldn't resist playing with it in Camera Raw to see how it might look as an evening scene. Your thoughts?   Posted: 11/15/2024 18:01:44

Hi all, thank you for your valuable comments and proposed processing and cropping.
Michael and Pete proposed two different alternative, a brighter (wider) and a darker with the motor cyclist removed. Cropping and distraction handling are the exact challenges I had when I processed this image. I could not decide on the brightness and cropping.
I like the full scene with the relative wide foreground street against the narrow street, that is the original impression while at the location. Probably good choice for travel category.
For black and white category, some may think that there are excess space in the foreground. Michael's processing kept the roads perspective and Pete's processing remove distraction. I will try both combination in my next processing.
Thanks.

Mandy, I like your composition in this image and how you have captured the lady walking, the motorcycle and the trolley in the same image. Really nicely done. In looking at the color image, I noticed a number of subtle tones in image. I would approach this image with less contrast than you used. I played with the image. See what you think.   Posted: 11/20/2024 01:19:47
