About the Image(s)
The other morning, I was rushing for an appointment and saw a construction crew across the street. I took the picture with a Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, 5X Zoom, RAW. Edited with LR and PS. I was surprised with the amount of detail that I was able to recover in the sky. If I had more time I would have waited for the construction workers to be aligned in a better composition - but overall I was pleased with being able to capture the image effortlessly and with no fuss.

The old adage about the best camera you own is the one you have with you is proven to be true by your Nov image.
You did a nice job taking a shot with little time to spare. I think your story here of men hard at work stands on its own.
Maybe you can revisit this site in the future and see how it has progressed

Emil - I now find I use my camera less as with having the phone with me all the time I never miss a shot. And with capabilities such as extra wide angle, 5X optical Zoom and RAW it provides me a lot of versatility right in my pocket. Since I really do not print my images I also get well detailed photos. Such a fascinating image! And it clearly demonstrates the abilities of smartphones. I really like how you dealt with the sky and decided to see how it might look with even more drama. Your thoughts?

Pete - thank you for proposing an alternate treatment. The dramatic sky creates a sense of danger . The sense I got when I photographed the workers was that they were in control and were going about their daily routine. Either version works for me - but for different purposes. Michael, I like the Mono version a lot, with simple lines which guides viewer's eyes to the two workers, this image can fit in the 'line' category'

Michael, as Mandy mentioned the lines from the various cranes guide the eyes to the workers. This proves that the best camera is the one with you. I am not sure I would add more drama to the sky as it might distract from the lines in the image. Posted: 11/18/2024 14:41:54
