The Shadow of the Rain by Sergio Mussini

July 2024 - The Shadow of the Rain

About the Image(s)

I don't have much to say about this image, except that I took it from inside a cafeteria. I think the story tells itself.
Use a Canon EOS 7D camera, ISO: 1600, f: 5.6 and 1/160 sec, focal length: 106 mm.

Sergio - the image makes me ask "who is looking at whom?". An interesting moment in time with just a hint of the reflection in the rain. Probably could be cropped to take out the right side of the image (did you have a specific reason for leaving it in?). B   Posted: 07/12/2024 13:48:57

I find the image very interesting but the "support" of the glass panes very distracting. So I removed it. What do you think?   Posted: 07/12/2024 15:36:27

Thank you very much Bev!! I responded to Bruce that he asked me about the same thing, you can see my response in his comment. I do this so I don't write the same thing twice :)

Having been out of town I was trying to catch up and missed that. As a matter of personal taste, I am never happy with something somewhat disecting an image.   Posted: 07/19/2024 13:05:10

Excellent technical image. Yes it does tell a story and uses a visual language to do so. Great Work   Posted: 07/17/2024 01:49:42

Sergio--I really like the combination of the shadow figure with the umbrella and the bright window display (which is perhaps a little bit too bright). The group of mannequins seems to be interacting with the umbrella figure which is an interesting narrative. I don't mind the right side; I like the word which looked to me like the english word "forget" in reverse, adding some ambiguity. I do think removing the dark verticle support improves the image. The fact that the figure has an umbrella is very important to the success of the image in my opinion.   Posted: 07/21/2024 16:14:19

Thank you very much Kathleen for your valuable comment.
The word you see on the right of the image is "torget" and means square in Swedish, I left it in to give context to the image and a geographical location for those who understand the language.   Posted: 07/26/2024 14:11:30

Sergio, great image which makes you wonder who is watching whom. It has a strong mysterious content given by the silhouette of the person with the umbrella. Everything is in context.   Posted: 07/22/2024 16:26:37
