About the Image(s)

Living on an Island we equate the waterways in many ways with the street or roads. I was taking pictures of an otter when I looked up and saw the Women standing in the boat coming in to the launch area. I managed to get one shot quick and then she was lost behind a large boat and I went back to my original scenes. I found this interesting in how the Dogs behaved on the boat ( at that moment at least) and how she was standing with the motor running and no PFD. ISO 2000 , 450 mm , f7.1, 1/640. I like the mono version as I think the women and the dogs stand out better.

Ed, as you said, people and animals are used to navigate even on a standing position and with no safe devices. I like the B&W as well as the color version, and I believe your crop is more as to include all the boat reflections in the water but creates a large empty space (at least to me). My crop would be as adjusted   Posted: 07/02/2024 17:26:35

Ed - I also like both the color (great contrast between the 'golds' and blues. Your B&W works nicely as well. I see a number of circles in the water perhaps from a 'hard' clone brush in PS? They are less visible in the color image but are an otherwise a distracting artifacts. B   Posted: 07/12/2024 13:54:07

I prefer the color version. Isaac's crop does help the monochrome version; but maybe it's me ...I prefer color.   Posted: 07/12/2024 15:28:31

I like the B&W version as it conveys the various tones of light.well composed and excellent POV. I like the space in the front suggesting movement.   Posted: 07/17/2024 01:54:04

Ed, I really like the color image and agree with Bruce that the circles in the water produced by the cloned brush are very noticeable. If you can correct this it would change the image a lot and make it even more interesting.

Ed--Wonderful subject but I agree with Isaac's much tighter composition. The dogs facing the camera make the image special. The boat is very cool-looking - it's so tiny!   Posted: 07/20/2024 18:25:32
