While in Africa, on the road traveling from Kenya to Tanzania we passed Isebania, the last village before the border where we had to go through Immigration and Customs. From the van window I was getting images from the area. It is a very poor and primitive region in Kenya. I saw this two kids walking embraced which I found to be very emotional. It is hard to tell if they are brothers or just friends running errands We can see the lack of paved roads, and garbage on the street.
The image was created with the Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor zoom lens 24-200 mm f/4-6.3 @ 200 mm and with these settings: ISO 3200 (Auto setting) f/8 and i/3200 sec (from the moving vehicle). The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped. I am adding two additional images to illustrate the area in context.

I don't think I would change this image, it does tell a story about the two kids in that particular environment. To me in many respects it shows that we are all different, yet we are all the same. I like your original 1 as although it is very busy, it shows the day to day reality of people's lives as they go about their daily business.   Posted: 12/14/2023 16:50:53

Isaac - Such a simple image telling a wonderful story. You included a bit of the environment that, without being distracting, helps add to the information about the image. The image is exposed well and the faces sharp. You have a wonderful knack (experience I suspect) of shooting from moving vehicles and taking such interesting photos! B   Posted: 12/15/2023 09:26:31

Isaac--I love these images you are showing us from Africa. I would not change anything except I would crop more closely at the top to diminish the busy wood elements, and then a little from the bottom to balance. It's a lovely image of "brothers" whether by blood or not. Also, I agree with the choice to use color rather than mono.   Posted: 12/18/2023 11:35:15

I will crop from the right to take the red metal out of the image. Otherwise technically this is a good image showcasing the boys and the environment they live in. Good work.   Posted: 12/21/2023 20:59:40

Isaac I like the cropped version as suggested. Nice frontal lighting which gives a sense of depth to the image. I like the movement suggested by the upraised foot. The older boy's embrace tells a wonderful story of protectiveness. The colors bring out the boys to the forefront, and even the debris on the street add texture to the image.   Posted: 12/24/2023 12:51:07
