About the Image(s)

I often find reflections very interesting and I like to take pictures of them. This is one of my favorite reflection shots. I'll be interested to hear what everyone thinks of it. I hope you enjoy it.

Kathleen, did you flip the image because is the reflection the one that shows the text the right way. Interesting traffic cross point. Were you on foot ? (the vantage point). The monochrome is quasy sepia.   Posted: 09/07/2023 18:00:37

Hi Isaac -- This image is a little bit of a puzzle. I wanted everyone to look at it before I explained it. The location is the busy circular traffic pattern in the Place de la Concorde in Paris. I'm in a car and I shot the image of the reflection in the passenger-side side-mirror, reflecting back at the traffic behind us. So the entire scene is a reflection in a mirror which is why everything's backwards. The thing I like most is the multiple versions of the scooter rider.   Posted: 09/13/2023 14:34:24

Kathleen - great reflections and the looks on everyone's faces are priceless. I wonder if your photo would focus the viewer more on the reflections if you cropped the most of the car on the right hand side out of the image? B   Posted: 09/11/2023 13:29:57

Thanks, Bruce. I guess I feel that the car on the right balances the car on the left. I consider the subject of the image to be traffic so I wanted the cars to feature.   Posted: 09/18/2023 15:47:03

Kathleen, great image. I'm a big fan of sepia and the reflections add a whole other dimension to the story.   Posted: 09/11/2023 21:35:04

Kathleen, great image and explanation how the image was captured. I like how the rider is entering the scene from the diagonal and all the people waiting in traffic. Your decision to convert to monochrome and remove the distraction of color is a good one. The subject is dead center and my suggestion would be to crop a bit from the right of the frame to make him on the thirds to improve the composition.   Posted: 09/21/2023 05:48:55

Even without the reflections this is a good shot showing the traffic and various modes of transport in a busy city. The look on the face of the individual seems to suggest he is somewhat resigned to this environment. I think this image would also work well as a Black and white.   Posted: 09/21/2023 10:49:36

Excellent work. The composition, the choice of taking the color out and clever use of reflection. To me street photography is all about observation ..this one is great .   Posted: 09/23/2023 09:11:33
