About the Image(s)

Grilled Corn on the Cob was created recently in Kenya-Africa. We were being transported from Nairobi to the Camp in Masai Mara and we crossed many highways and backroads. In one of the slow down points, we found this young man selling grilled Corn on the Cob to a bus passenger (main image). As we continued the road, we passed a truck full of corn that looked like a distribution center (Original) and further down there was this covered area where people were grilling the corn for sale. The message reads that this is a government supported trade. These additional images were included for story telling. I used a Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor zoom lens Z24-200 mm f/f4-6.3 and with these settings: ISO 1600, f/8 and 1/3200 sec since we were in a moving vehicle. The images were PP in LightRoom and cropped accordingly.

Isaac - Action! Color! Interest! Besides the interesting street vendor and the contrasting colors to the bus, I like how you kept some of the activity in the back right-hand corner in the photo. It helps let the viewer know a little about where in the world you might be (i.e., not NYC, etc.). If you had not written that this was taken from a moving vehicle I would have thought that you were standing right there. Thanks for including the other shots that complete the story. Very nice image and your timing from a moving vehicle was great. It is sharp and the colours contribute to the image as well. I like the look on the vendors face as I feel that it conveys he is having a hard time on this day.   Posted: 09/13/2023 19:39:10

I love this image, Isaac. The yellow bus, the red hat, the corn cobs, the striped shirt, all add wonderful elements to this interesting image. Thanks for telling us the story behind the scene; it really adds a lot to the story to know the background. The upper right corner is another whole scene on its own. Super!   Posted: 09/18/2023 15:52:22

Great image, Isaac. Thanks for your explanation. You caught the subject's skin tones correctly and I like the gesture of his hand which mimic the corn cobs. The touches of yellow of the bus, corn and building serves to tie the image together. I might have cropped the left of the bus to make this a vertical as a suggestion.   Posted: 09/21/2023 06:34:29

Interesting image . I don't get why the mirror was not cropped out.   Posted: 09/23/2023 09:04:06

Hi Pinaki.. to me, if the mirror were cropped out would also mean that the yellow building in the background would be amputated which provides context (environment) to the story. Perhaps Isaac can share his vision.   Posted: 09/23/2023 13:58:08
