Linda, the image is wonderfully sharp and captures a simple everyday moment with a nice sense of clarity. I really enjoy the tint of the sunglasses and how it echoes the color of the door. For me, the red feels a bit overpowering, though the contrast between the door and the woman's yellow pants is undeniably striking. It appears some of the color cast goes into her skin tones. That bold red?and?yellow combination creates strong visual energy, but it can also pull attention a little too forcefully. I'd consider cropping in from the left to remove the dark lock and door handle, since that heavy dark color pulls my eye after the initial hit of red. I really like your image. To be honest, it doesn't strike me as a truly "candid" photograph. While the subject may not be a professional model, the way she is dressed and the way she is posing do not suggest a spontaneous moment. It doesn't feel like an image of someone you simply happened to come across while she was enjoying a drink by the doorway. I assume you at least asked her to pose, especially since she is looking directly at the camera.
I respectfully disagree with Kerry and think that the bold colors are perfect for this image. They create a strong visual contrast and, in my opinion, represent an excellent use of color.
I also believe that the lock and the door handle should remain in the frame. They help balance the composition and contribute to the story being told. As viewers, we cannot help but wonder what lies behind the door and what she might find if she opens it.

Linda, Red and Yellow are very strong colors and very vivid. I agree with keeping the lock of the door. It kind of balances the weight in the frame. The lady is nicely leaning against the door frame. Image is sharp. Posted: 08/23/2026 00:23:25
Linda - A striking image. Bright colors, interesting woman. I like the door locks; to me, they help balance the photo. I'm not sure if I'd consider this a 'street' image as it appears to be more of a posed portrait.
