About the Image(s)
this is another image taken at the market of Thimpu in Buthan where I figured out there at least 5-7 of different variety of rice. This seller looked entertained from her phone.
Techinical: Fujifilm GFX 100S ii, Fujinon GF 45-100 f/4 @67mm, f/7.1, 1/250s, ISO 800.
Post processing: this is pretty much out of the camera image with a slight cropping and basic adjustments (open up shadows, decrease saturation and increase contrast and clarity).

Michele,
I love how you captured such a natural moment - she looks genuinely absorbed in her conversation or whatever she's watching on her phone. The way she's nestled among the rice products she's selling makes her the undeniable focal point of the scene. The vibrant colors surrounding her are wonderful, too. The strong blues in the foreground, followed by the subject, then the yellows and whites behind her all work together to create a beautifully balanced composition. Lovely work.   Posted: 04/09/2026 02:11:27

Michele,
You've captured such a beautiful, natural moment here. It perfectly describes the daily life of this woman-hard at work, yet clearly finding a moment of joy on her phone. That smile makes me wonder if she just received some good news! While the variety of colors is lovely, I'd be curious to see how this looks in monochrome to really highlight the textures of the rice sacks. Lovely work!   Posted: 04/11/2026 19:23:12

thank you Linda for your positive and detailed feedback, I much appreciate it. I tried to convert to black and white but in my opinion it doesn't work the same way. The colors in this image help to convey the feeling of happiness.

Michele - The seller 'pops' out in your photograph. She is framed by the colorful bags of rice and as you noted, thoroughly entertained by her phone while waiting for a customer. Her blouse is a good, bright contrast to the other colors around her. I think you could tighten your crop slightly at the top (just above the blue bags). B   Posted: 04/14/2026 13:11:27

Michele, street photography in SEA is a smorgasbord of characters, items, colors, ethnicities and so on. Specially in Markets when there is unlimited activity. I agree with the observations made, however to me the background behind her head is very distracting and takes away her being conspicuous. I like square crops (the original film frame).   Posted: 04/15/2026 14:33:21
