Background: image taken at the vegetable market in Thimphu, Bhutan. This lady selling fruits and vegetable probably got tired in the afternoon and decided to get relaxed. One thing I learned during my trip in the country is that people take everything slowly….
Technical aspects: taken with Fujifilm GFXs II and Fujinon GF 45-100 mm f/4 @100 mm. ISO 800, f/7.1, 1/250 sec.
Post processing: I cropped to 2-3 and also went for a tight crop on the woman since she was my subject and I wanted to keep out distracting elements. I also selectively darkened few objects in the background and lightened the face of the women. Other basic adjustments were to decrease highligths and open the shadow a little and adding some clarity and contrast.

Michele, it really looks like the weather was cold. The lady. I like her laid back attitude since there is no other choice but to wait for the customers in a very competitive market. The dark background is not distracting. Posted: 12/07/2025 23:48:16

despite the appearance was not too cold.. (16 C). However, I guess that if you seat there all day you can feel cooler, particularly because it was very humid.

Woman sitting at her market stall among fruits and goods. She looks tired but calm, as if this is her normal everyday life. Everything around her is simple and real - wooden boxes, food, fabric, hands. The colors look natural, not artificial. You can almost feel the texture of the fruit and the cold of the air.
