About the Image(s)
At the Tokyo fish market there are a lot of small stands of specialty merchandise. Here, the vendor is selling various high-end dried seafood delicacies, including dried oysters, dried sea cucumbers and several types of premium dried abalone (Yoshihama, Oami, and Kuroawabi from Chiba) which are believed to be aphrodisiac ( An aphrodisiac is a substance that increases libido, sexual desire, sexual attraction, sexual pleasure, or sexual behavior. These substances range from a variety of plants, spices, and foods to synthetic chemicals) therefore the high prices.
The prices range from ?15,000 (? USD 95) up to ?300,000 (? USD 1,900) depending on the type and size. (Exchange rate 1 US$ = 150 Japanese Yen). The translation was obtained with chat GPT.
As you can see the vendor was very proud that I photographed him and his goods. The image was created with a Nikon D500 (DX sensor) with the Nikkor lens 12-24 mm f/4 @ 19mm and these settings: ISO 2500, f/8 and 1/60 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom, Denoised and cropped.
