Rest Stop by Ed Taje

January 2025 - Rest Stop

About the Image(s)

This summer my Wife an I volunteered to photograph components of the Ride for MS This is a national event that moves to various communities across Canada and raises money for research and to assist those afftected. The long course covers about 40 km (about 24 miles) and with only two of us it was a challange to get to locations that we sort of preplanned based on the map. The riders move verry fas along the course. It was a learning experience and we will be better prepared for next year and hopfully have a few more volunteers. This image was at one of the rest stops and I managed to catch a couple of the riders getting a drink and snack, It was one of three stops on an extremely hot day. ISO 200 , 31mm f4 1/500 Edited in Lightroom and then Viveza 3 to get the pastel tones.

Ed, indeed difficult light conditions being very harsh with strong shadows, but still a good image representing the moment.   Posted: 01/04/2025 17:18:22

It sure why you chose the pastel colors for this image. The composition is good and yes harsh light is challenging, I personally tend to use CPL for this kind of situation to bring some balance in the exposure.   Posted: 01/15/2025 02:55:45

Nice moment catching the riders checking out the offerings and getting a drink. Perhaps moving your point of shooting to other angles might have isolated the subjects more from the background. B   Posted: 01/16/2025 14:58:34

I agree, except the other angle was into the sun and just to the left was a parking lot   Posted: 01/16/2025 16:03:19
