Pinaki, interesting street image more about the architecture of the building and window with changes caused by exposure to the elements. The walking man adds the human component, but it is unfortunate that you amputated his right hand. I did some cropping to remove some of the distracting elements and brings up the man a little more.   Posted: 11/06/2024 21:40:24

About the Hand I agree. I couldn't figure out a creative solution for that. For other crops I don't agree.   Posted: 11/06/2024 22:43:16

This image does tell a story, to me it shows a man walking down a street in an older area of a town. I did not see the information as you described relating to the social structure. I also could not determine what he was holding in his left hand although I suspect it was of some value to him due to the item being strapped to his wrist. I did a similar crop to Isaac's but although the man did gain a bit more prominence I do not think it made any significant improvement to the overall image or story. The major problem is the cut off of the one hand. If it is cropped above the wrist then the cut off would be at the hip and a similar problem would exist. ie: cut off at a joint. Perhaps with the 24mm focal length (about 36mm on a crop sensor ) and more so on a full frame the only solution would be if you were in an area and had the time to change your location so that you could frame the image to include more of the individual . the only creative solution would be to use AI and with some luck generate the lower part of the man and the wall, and that might be a shot in the dark. That solution however would eliminate the the image as a competitive image in most jurisdictions   Posted: 11/09/2024 15:16:26

The other hand has a cell phone. Old ones look so different that it is hard to imagine them in today's context.   Posted: 11/10/2024 19:52:45

I took a look at using the Crop Generate in Photoshop. Agree it would not be something for competition and the while the resulting hand and additional room would pass on first glance, each of the hand variations was a bit weird. Fun to try though. B   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:13:57

As I'm running a bit late this month, they previous comments pretty much said it all. Interesting commentary and pretty much right on   Posted: 11/11/2024 19:04:22

Pinaki - Appreciate your commentary about the common man. Your image is colorful and the man adds to the scene. While I 'get' that we shouldn't cut off parts of the body, I tend to focus more on the whole rather the parts. Works for me! B   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:16:37

Pinaki--The man and the architecture are competing for the viewer's attention. The wonderfully weathered wall and interesting shutters tell their own story and I like the little sign on the right. The figure perhaps represents working class heroes the world over so I wish he had somewhat more presence in the image.   Posted: 11/21/2024 17:34:58
