November 2024 - Coming to School
About the Image(s)
Last month I was in Colombia to photograph birds. Our last stop was on this pintoresc, colonial and beautiful town named JARDIN (Garden in Spanish) and which honors its name. I came out early in the morning (before 7:00 AM) to do some street photography. Our hotel was in front of the main square which part of it you can appreciate in the image. Many students were walking my way since the school is one block up the Plaza. On the background a public transportation bus with the name of the town very visible.
The image was created with the Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor zoom lens 24-200 mm f/4-6.3 @ 110 mm and with these settings: ISO 1100 (auto), f/8 and 1/200 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped.

This is a common scene in many communities, the uniqueness of the image is the overall environment showing the difference of the location with features not seen, say on a street here, contrasting with the clothing of the students which can be seen almost anywhere. It is a good image of a busy street with attention to the activity underway. I cropped the image slightly on the left to remove features which do not add to the story I see in the image. Nice image . Like the repition of the logo in the children's clothing. Creates a sense of rhythm. I would go with your crop i.e. With the lamppost. This is a busy background photograph with but a good one as it adds to the environment but doesn't take anything away from the main focus . Posted: 11/10/2024 19:38:36
