Singapore Ball by Pauline Jaffe

April 2026 - Singapore Ball

About the Image(s)

I went to Singapore in February and was amazed by the architecture.
This particular structure was located along the Marina Bay area, an upscale area of posh hotels and expensive malls.
The thing that I found intriguing about this building is that there is only a small band along the middle of the ball that is clear where you can see people inside sitting down and talking to one another and having drinks. The upper part of the building is shaded so you can see through but with difficulty, and the bottom is not see-through. Additionally, the structure seems to float on water.
I took this with a Nikon Z62. Lens 24-70. ISO 100, Aperture f 5, 1/1250 sec.
I darkened the sky slightly so the focus would be more on the architecture.

Please provide me with helpful and insightful comments and critiques on this image.

When I first saw this image, I was really impressed, and the unique shape of the building immediately caught my attention.
It was interesting to discover such a distinctive architectural structure through your photo.
The form and structure of the building fill the frame with a strong presence, and this sense of density actually adds to the overall appeal of the image.
Personally, I feel that cropping a bit of the lower area with the water reflection might further emphasize the building and draw more attention to it.
It also feels like a joyful travel moment, which adds to the overall charm of the image.   Posted: 04/01/2026 09:32:19

You nailed it with this photo. I feel a little like a voir peering into another world. The more I look the more I see. From the interior of the ball to the reflections on the glass are all perfect.   Posted: 04/01/2026 17:15:52
