Arches and Shadows by Lori Azevedo

July 2025 - Arches and Shadows

About the Image(s)

Here is another photo from my photoshoot at the local college. These buildings are around 100 years old, and I just loved the way the sunset cast the shadows on the hallway.

Lori,
A nice progression of arches and lights, and I agree with you about the lighting. If you had a chance to shoot this again, would you ever consider a slightly different camera angle, perhaps a good bit lower down toward the floor? I also find myself wondering as I look at the ceiling lights receding down into the dark whether there is anything interesting down there. Interesting setting.   Posted: 07/13/2025 03:02:22

I was really just playing around with the shadows. Architecture photography is not really my thing. If I was to do it again I would add a model as the subject.   Posted: 07/21/2025 19:43:21

This is a lovely image and the arched lighting on the back wall that is bouncing off the long hallway is very appealing.
I look down the hallway into the blackness and want to know what is there. Very nice.   Posted: 07/14/2025 19:59:05

Lori, Good image. I like the symmetry, color and mystery of it. The lighting is great. I was also curious about where the corridor leads. Using several IPhone apps (Luminar and Procamera) I tried their HDR to look further down the path, enhanced the color and cropped it a bit for your interest.   Posted: 07/21/2025 19:13:51

The hallway leads to classrooms and office space. There is an interior courtyard. The building is probably 100 years old. Thank you for the comments and editing.

Lori, Lovely arches creating shadows to take our eyes down the corridor. I've been told to have something at the end of a diminishing line like this, so a model or thing could add interest. Maybe more of an angle or higher/lower could accentuate the lines even more. It's great to try new things and challenge yourself, too. Looking forward to seeing what you take when you go back there.   Posted: 07/28/2025 20:17:28
