About the Image(s)
I was visiting my daughter and her family in Bozeman, Montana over Christmas and we went on this delightful wagon ride.
I only had my Iphone16 so that’s what I used. The status on the phone gave: 24 mm, f/1.78, ISO 80 and 3.1 MP. In Topaz AI I boosted up the image to 12 MP and then used basic Lightroom adjustments with some masking of the sky to deepen the color. I’ll be interested to hear what we all think of using the iPhone 16.

Alex, I'm impressed with the quality of your picture given that it's take with a phone. This is an interesting picture and I like your composition, with the horses being the main subject. The sky color works well and provides a nice contrast with all the white. Overall a very nice photograph.   Posted: 02/08/2025 16:29:23
Well done with color and contrast. Those poor horses look like they just want to head back to the barn for a nap. If I have to find something to critique it would be the 2 tree branches behind the person on the right. I think I would have darkened them or removed them. I had to really search for something to comment on. Good job with the phone. The technology is really improving.   Posted: 02/11/2025 19:10:51
This is an impressive image. I love the colors of the horses against the snow and the blue sky with the white clouds.
The lighting is lovely and you've done a nice job with the composition.   Posted: 02/12/2025 19:22:52

Alec, I love the quality of pics from the iPhone 16 pro max (I just got mine), and have competed with quite a few images from my old 12 pro max. I'm a believer that the best camera is the one you have with you, plus it is easy to edit taking it into LR or PS to correct any issues - which you proved to us. I think the two light branches above the guy's head are small distractors. I like how close you were to the horses and that they are both in focus with all their gear. Blue sky is great, just the right color. Very fun shot to remember the day by.   Posted: 02/15/2025 22:45:27
Alec, OK, first reaction is this one made me smile. Those look like pretty big draft horses, and they are amazing animals. The lighting on the horses vs. the background is excellent. As for the great phone vs. camera debate, I know a number of people using phones regularly instead of their cameras, and they enter the results in competitions. They can even make good sized prints (12 x 18) from a phone picture, and that has always been a tough test. With all the AI making its way into software like Topaz or Photoshop, there's a lot to work with. Very nice shot. Smile. lol.   Posted: 02/19/2025 16:50:47
