About the Image(s)

Why do people complain that Manhattan is dark and you can’t see the sky? The sky is right there, plain as day!

I took it with a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera at 1/60 seconds at 35 mm (lens 24-105 mm), f/5.6 with an ISO of 100.

It was modified in Lightroom for exposure and angles and then changed in Topaz Studio using enhancement and some abstraction.

Alec,
Very interesting shot. The blue tint works well with this one, and of course you can pull up some sky details...or did you replace sky? I'm guessing the former. I know I always look up and around at the sky when in NYC, but so many people there look at their phones or at the ground. My own complaint with getting the sky in a NY photograph is the difference in luminosity between the buildings in the canyon and the sky above. It is so easy to end up with a blown out sky. With your shot, apart from the blue tint which I like, your shot also brings out the geometry of the various buildings in NYC when you look at them like layers. And the way you ended up with the sky you have is quite ethereal. Nice job.   Posted: 11/11/2024 15:44:22

Alec, The blue tint works for me, even though I know the buildings are brick. I like everything - from the buildings to the sky and a few really interesting blue spots that draw my focus. The low buildings make a nice leading line toward the 'horizon' and the buildings, which are all unique. I enjoyed seeing the clouds too. Nice composition overall. The only distraction is the lower right light.   Posted: 11/17/2024 23:07:00

Hi Alec: I love this image. It's crisp and clear and no juxtaposition. It reminds me of a backdrop from a Superman or Batman movie. It's wonderful.   Posted: 11/20/2024 18:09:14
