About the Image(s)

I have had this Native American in my files for some time, looking to use it in our Group. It was taken at a native festival in Santa Fe. The background is
Grand Canyon. After sizing and moving the Native and the bird to the background I lightened the parts of their bodies to agree where the sunrays are coming from.
Also used feathering to reduce the pasted on appearance.

Hi Aavo, I love the idea of the Native American and the bird sharing the rule of their mighty canyon. He is a perfect character in this role, and the warm reds and yellows of the golden hour rock walls are repeated in his outfit beautifully. I think that you have handled light and shadows very well. I think that the man is perfect. Is the front side of the rock he is standing on a little in the shadow? I was wondering about the bird - what about making him smaller and setting him to fly further away over the canyon, to emphasize the vast distances?   Posted: 09/08/2023 14:45:42

Aavo, You've technique for cutting and pasting has improved quite a bit over time and you have done a great job balancing the various elements nicely here. I have nothing to add other than, well done

Hi Aavo,
I like the story in this image. I think the elements are well-managed, creating a nice scene. I have to agree with Kirsti's suggestion about the bird. Otherwise, I find that you have done a great job putting it all together.

It's hard to be near the end of the comments. I agree with a lot of what has been said above. You usually use interesting backgrounds and have done so again here. The statue is well placed but a little too sharp. Overall, a good idea.   Posted: 09/18/2023 10:15:03

Very colorful!
I think you have created a lot of energy in a scene which is mostly inherently static. Placing the statue and the bird near the edges of the image really lets me enjoy the details of the canyon.

Like Alan, I agree with a lot of what has been said above.
Personally, I might consider decreasing the saturation of the reds on the statue a bit, to make the colors a little more compatible with the natural colors of the canyon.
