About the Image(s)
For this month's image I was playing with the progress. Initially I hadn't consciously noticed the horizontal pattern on the trees. As I progressed through various images there was something about the bricks and the trees that resonated with me. It was only after I started blending them I noticed how they shared the horizontal and vertical lines. As with many images these days I have no idea what I'm trying to create and just enjoy seeing where it goes.

Hi Brad, Great exercise in patterns and lines. The blending of the worker came out very well as grassy landscape connecting the foreground to the trees on the right. I am not sure about the partial opacity on the bricks over the trees. It's a creative choice and adds to the patterning but distracting as well. Overall, it's a cool scene that you've put together with an intriguing story.   Posted: 05/06/2025 08:12:38
Hi Brad! To me, the image conveys a feeling of two different times present simultaneously. When I blink, I can see the old rural scene complete, and when I blink again, it is replaced by the brick wall and stone paving. I think that it is very much the partial opacity of the brick wall that produces the shimmering sense of change. I just love the image and the idea.   Posted: 05/06/2025 18:40:20
I always enjoy your blending mastery. The door and the bricks cross over into surrealism. The lone figure reinforces the surreal atmosphere even more. I took the liberty of copying your image into PS, using the B&W Adjustment Layer, and adjusting the colors to only suggest colors. I feel softer colors enhance the surrealistic tone of what you already started. Nice work.   Posted: 05/07/2025 14:12:56
Hi Brad,
Your image has a lot of potential. As you mentioned, it's a work in progress, and you can continue experimenting with it to create different atmospheres and finishes.
You've blended the elements really well, resulting in a strong visual impact. My only concern is the placement of the farmer,I find that she draws my eye out of the frame, and the corner where she's working acts like an arrow pointing outward.
I took the image into Photoshop and played around a bit, creating another version where I softened the trees using some motion blur and placed the woman on the opposite side. I hope you don't mind, I did it just to illustrate my point of view.   Posted: 05/13/2025 11:12:21
