About the Image(s)
This image was on the Digital Dialog Member's Showcase home page last month so I thought I would present it in the group.
All the base images were taken on the same night in the traffic island in Times Square, New York City. As you can see, there is nothing special about them. But with a bunch of warping, overlapping blending and color manipulation using HSL Adjustment layers, you can still see much of the nightly chaos and bring together different angles of the iconic location.

Hi Matt,
You did a great job with these images, creating a final piece that truly showcases the chaos of the city. I love the vivid colors and the sense of movement and distortion that envelop the entire scene, inviting exploration of what's happening.
There's a clear flow of movement from left to right, drawing me outside the frame, while the dancing buildings frame the scene and lead my eye toward the center. I wonder if shifting the cars more toward the center to create a stronger leading line to the buildings would tighten the composition and strengthen the overall impact.   Posted: 03/12/2025 12:39:50

You have communicated perfectly what I think about going into NYC for any reason. NYC officials, of course, would say this depiction is before congestion pricing, but I shudder when I look at your composite. That's a compliment. The best part is that you don't even need the blaring horns, vocal taxi drivers, and cursing pedestrians to go with your superb re-creation of what a nightmare NYC is.   Posted: 03/13/2025 07:57:41
This is a brilliant image, Matt! I think you have really captured the feeling of Times Square- the color, so much going on at once, seeing what is there but not being able to focus on details because there is so much to look at. I really love this! The distortion of the buildings add to the feeling of motion, and I really like how the words on the buildings are legible but look fluid and changing as well.
The colors work really well together.
I like how you balance the bright upper left with the brake lights in the lower right corner.
The black car in the lower left does stop my eye a bit; you might consider lightening it up a tad.
Such a wonderful image!   Posted: 03/15/2025 17:04:57

Matt, Excuse my late entry. I didn't see your image when I went through the group earlier in the month and got busy. I join the group in enjoying the blend of color and movement in this image. A perfect handling of the Time Square Vibe   Posted: 03/29/2025 23:46:01
